Sorry, just get animated when people presume that ALL companies can
afford servers, IT support etc etc etc.

Come to Devon. There are MANY small companies and as any one who has
lived here or know a Devonian well wil tell you
"They have SHORT arms and DEEP pockets" :-) :-) :-)

Many thanks

Rob Mouser

OK I'm now going throw this wider.
As the original post said it's an issue of cost and justification of
that cost. Exchange IS just too big / too expensive for many small
organisations. Some of these organisations don't even have servers!
If you want a 'well supported' 'simple' alternative to Exchange then
there is vPOP3, yes you pay but its cost is VERY low compared to MS
Exchange, the software is VERY simple to use has excellent help files
and the tech support from Paul Smith is excellent. It certainly does not
need a MCSE or whatever to support it!!!! A cost that MOST small
organisation just CANNOT afford.

www.pscs.co.uk

Absolutely NO connection to pscs just know the software, know of 4 small
companies with it installed and it just runs and runs and runs.

P.S. vSOCKS is also great and is FREE.

Many thanks

Exchange 2000 will run on a P200 with 64Mb. It'll also run a number
of websites via IIS, and a few other bits and bobs. Mine's been up
for 18 months now, 100% reliably (aside from reboots for updates).
I've got a 128Mb stick to match the 64Mb stick as well, which really
improves performance. Either way, you can pick 200MHz boxes from
skips these days, and EDO RAM is just the same.

Cheers,
Andy
