TV distribution/split

Hi,

I need to get TV into the upstairs of my house. Can I just cut the
cable from the aerial to downstairs and feed it into a distribution
box/booster inside the bedroom cupboard. Then re-wire from there
back outside and join it back to the cable feeding downstairs.

Will this cause massive signal loss? I wan't to get fta digital
upstairs and down as at times I need to record 1/pause 1 on sky+ and
watch another program on fta.

alternatives considered:

- Video senders don't work - due to poor signal from large steel
joists.
- TV aerial is 20ft above the roofline. Can't take the pole down to
connect a 2nd cable, as my sky dish is mounted up the same pole, and
would need re-aligning.
- downstairs cable is embedded into the wall, so can't run re-run a
complete single length of cable.
- sky mirror-sub/no already paying enough.

many thanks

Garry
