An ISO would be great as I have no installation knowledge of Linux (I guess
I should give it a go sometime though, but it seems so much effort!).
Sounds good though. Do you know if you can use those USB video adapters
(ie. 4 or 5 at once?)

Paul.

Hi Paul,

For four cameras or so you can probably get by with a 300Mhz PC with about
256Mb of RAM and maybe 10-20Gb of disk maximum. It all depends how you
configure it really, so if you have all your cameras flying along at 25fps
then something a lot more recent would be required. If you're happy to
sample at 5fps then the above will do fine.

It will monitor as many cameras as you have configured, they are all done
simultaneously, the exception being say if all 4 inputs are used on a
capture card with only one DSP when it will round robin them and so
technically it not actually simultaneous as they take turns but it's only a
fraction of a second and that is a hardware limitation that all software
will share. I have 5 cameras on my system (2 true video, 2 USB and one IP)
and it's an old 266Mhz P2, works just fine with no need for any kind of
video switching at all.

It has been suggested that I come up with an ISO image for people to
install
Linux+ZoneMinder to make life easier and this is something I plan to do as
soon as I get time.

Cheers,

Phil,

I
don't have a Linux box currently. Any idea of minimum spec PC for running
it? Also, is there any way of monitoring several streams simultaneously?
