Re: Experience with CCD security cameras
Hi Mark,
I don't have a huge amount of experience but I have a couple of the bullet
type cameras on my system. I might as well get the plug in now, visit
http://www.zoneminder.com for the
top open source home video security
solution. There, and it works with mobiles too. Well so far I've only tried
it with one, which as luck would have it is a T68i so you might be ok
there.
Anyway, to return to the point, I have two outdoor cameras set up, one at
the front which is also street lit, and one at the back with no additional
lighting. Both are black and white and give pretty good image quality with
the built in PIR illumination though the back one is probably limited to
around 10m in range. The best thing is maybe if I send you a couple of
sample images so you can see for yourself. Let me know if you'd like some.
I don't have any problems with condensation or anything like that, though
they need a wipe with a cloth every now and then. What I do sometimes have
a
problem with is bugs, and in particular spiders deciding my camera makes an
ideal integral part of their web and so gets hours of footage of a spider
wandering back and forth in front of the camera. In the day time you
wouldn't notice but in the dark with the bug about 2 inches from the IR
source they shine like the sun!
Cheers,
Phil,
