RE: Radio networking...

Thanks for the pointers guys.

There is line-of-sight to the School and has been measured a 1.9Km away.

We are linked to another building on the same site as we are located on, we
tried a flat-dish type of antenna but that was not that powerful (I was not
involved in that project) we now have a sort of a laser jobbie....I am told
it uses some sort of plasma beam?? cost a shed load and once again I have
not been involved in that project.

So here I am trying to understand this next project...

First off, is it possible to get a line of sight connection between the
two locations? If yes then things are a lot easier.

http://www.wlansource.co.uk/
are a good UK source. They do 24Dbi gain
parabolic mesh antenna but you do need a license for it. I can't
remember how much you can boost without needing a license but I'm sure
someone else on the list will.

Past that you just need to WAPs and away you go. Linksys have said they
will support the stronger encryption for wireless (and acronym escapes
me) so you might want to go with them.

Any more info needed just give me a shout.
