Paul,

I recently saw the new Samsung 50" panel sitting next to a Panasonic
42"
running the same DVD and, to be blunt, the Samsung looked utterly crap in
comparison. The picture was soft, blacks were rubbish and it just didn't
look good at all, I even played with the settings and it still looked guff,
so it was the panel, not the settings! I saw the LG and 42" and it was
okay,
but not great. I haven't seen a Fujitsu panel for ages so I can't comment
on
the current crop.

The Philips ones are not bad, the Sony's are nice but if *I* were buying a
plasma I'd get a Pioneer or a Panasonic, IMHO it's a two horse race and it
is worth spending the extra IMO. However, all the 50"+ panels seem a
bit
soft to me but the Panasonic (IIRC) 50" one I did see and Phil was
there too
I think, was one *HELL* of a lot better than the Samsung.

But then again, that could all change with the introduction of a couple of
new models! ;)
