RE: Serial Protocol Capture...

On that front can it suss the port speeds/settings for itself?

I've been tickering with my alarm system since I installed it. I have the
PC
programming kit for it
(MAX232 chip/lead) which works a treat, so the remote keypads must talk
RS232.
The serial analyzers I've used so far have to be told the speed/parity/stop
etc upfront.
The trouble is whatever speed I pick, there is alway tonnes of traffic so
I'm still none the
wiser. The utilmate aim would be to have a bit of VB+comport on the server
mimic one of the
remote keypads, so I could remotely control the alarm and check alarm
status
etc.

I think Dan's software would be used on a spare PC with 2 comports to do
what you want to. Sort of like a sniffer on the line inbetween your target
hardware and the other PC with the target software.

Havn't used it so that is only an assumption, Dan?

Cheers, Des.
