RE: Digital cameras

My only problem is the battery - I have always gone for cameras with
standard batteries - AAA or AA because if I run out I can buy them in
any shop. While on a weekend break in Dublin last week I had to buy some
AA batteries as my battery light was flashing halfway through the night!
I just wish that Canon would bring out a camera like that with AA
batteries.
BTW I have a Pentax 300GS (2xAA), Sony DSC U20 (2xAAA) and a FujiFilm
S602Zoom (4xAA) they may not suit your video requirements but I want to
carry a camera and that's it!

I have been using the Canon Digital Ixus 400 and found that to do
everything your asking. Also it uses CF cards which are V.cheap and
pretty damned robust.

Any thoughts on digital cameras, like the Sony DSC-P8? or the Fuji M603?
Looking for 3M+ pixels and some optical zoom with movie mode.

These both allow 640x480 movies with sound. Any comments on movie
quality? Looking for replacement for both video camera (as I never
bothered to take
8mm video camera anywhere) and still camera.
Obviously there is a compromise but both of these seem to have quite
mild
compression.

Thanks,

Martin
