--snip--

Or... does anyone know if its possible to clone a drive (off say my
brothers
tivo) and use that in my working shell of a tivo? I dont want to break the
law etc, does anyone know if my special "tivo code" is stored on
the HD or
in hardware? Or if I clone my bro's tivo, will I get his subscription
details etc conflicting?

>> There's no problem doing that, the subscription details are
hardware specific (it uses a serial number in ROM I believe, somebody may
correct me) You could also buy a new hard drive with the TiVO software
already on it from http://www.pacelink.co.uk/, if you
don't want to play with Linux.

Thanks in advance,

Jules
