It's hard to understand just what a tremendous difference there is in a
Showshifter PC and a TiVo untill you've tried both.

No...but that's not the purpose of a PVR, and there are far better ways to
do this than SS.

As someone who used SS for a year before getting TiVo all I can say is you
really won't know until you've lived with both.  SS is a great piece of
software, but TiVo is a purpose built 100% sorted, "proper" PVR.
