A couple of comments:
- the SlimMp3 uses VFD displays, and they have not had any reports of
burn in apparently.
- legibilgity of VFD in terms of both viewing angle and contrast is
fantastic, much better than the various LCD technologies
- the nori VFD I have automatically dims if the display is static for
more than a minute or so. It shows no signs of burn in after a few
months use.
- do go for the biggest display you can afford/will fit in your
intended application. I find 20x2 too limiting to be of much use,
20x4 if you scroll one or two lines is a good compromise and still
fits in a double UK wall box.
