Part of that 60k could have ensured a protective removable plastic film was
applied to the birch that could be removed after - he was concerned about
natural finish, but good treatment would have ensured a lot of that damaged
would not have happened.
I will be interested to see the end result - as McLoud said - why not used
normal ply and have veneered it afterward - it would not really have
compromised the 'natural' finish...

The roof eventually went on (I have yet to see a Grande Designs that
went without problems!!). The big problem seems to be the water damage
to the finished birch. Not sure how an extra =A360k would have stopped
mother nature.
