Just re-read the original post! You do need a card for freeview for
existing satellite boxes but do you need a card for the new generation
of boxes 'designed' for freeview?

Actually you do need a card (at least when using a Sky box). You can get
this card free of charge from the BBC (operated by Sky I think) though.

It's a really good idea to get one even if you've got a Sky sub as you
can add a second box (and maybe even more?) to your quad LNB equipped
dish. This means you can use it as a feed for all the freeview channels
to other TV's in the house. Even better, I use the second box (first is
Sky+) to feed crystal clear radio to my multi-zone amp for radio in any
room. Bonus!!!

There are no subscriptions, or cards, on Freeview. That's why it's,
er, free viewing :-)
