Channelplus are also doing a rebadged version of the Kustom KHS6640, the
amp I have.

This easy 6 thing looks very similar to the Xantech ZPR68.  The
Xantech unit has an RS232 port, and supports direct volume select,
and querying of what the volme (or other stuff) is set to. It could
do the audio end of the air guitar scenario described.

Given the propensity for Xanech, Speakercraft and ChannelPlus stuff
to be identical, has the easy 6 not got the RS232 port?   If it has,
get the docs from the Xantech site on how to use it, and give it a go!
