but you can hear the mp3 playing, and you dont want to be standing up to
choose the next one.
[Paul] You might hear it but with 30,000+ MP3's you don't always know what
=
it is - especially if someone else has selected it as happens regularly
her=
e + cool/wow factor (very important!!!) :-)

heating? well , surely that is best controlled thermostatically, with an
override feature, again on the pronto.
=20
[Paul] I like to see exactly what's set plus temperature reporting - I get
=
this with my SmartFit system linked to Comfort. Getting this info onto a
di=
splay is easy from there.
alarm? well if you get some permiter alert then surely this can be
announce=
d
over the keypads (on comfort say).
=20
[Paul] Already got this and it's announced over the whole-house-audio
syste=
m using ACE TTS and AT&T Natural Voices rather than Comfort keypads
which a=
re limited (but are a good fail-safe). With the amount of info available
fr=
om Comfort, any of this can be displayed - arm status especially useful
but=
also 'modes' such as party, spa, night, day etc - all of which are set to =
do various things such as lighting levels, doors unlocked, alarm armed
with=
bypasses etc. VERY powerful and for me, the heart of HA!
i am not trying to be controversial, just wanting to understand what the
gi=
g
is.
am i missing something ;-)

Feedback is vital!
I currently use a Pronto Pro, iPaq (with NetRemote and Vinyl), Fuji (with
MainLobby), PC and a Laptop to control my HA setup. I still have a big need
for something wall mounted that's not too big and can always be found
(unlike the Pronto, iPaq etc).
Feedback on one of these devices will give MP3 playing, heating status,
alarm status, Caller ID to name but a few. Loads more where they came from!
Paul.

i have to admit it seems a bit of a backward step to me to have a small,
hardwired display on a wall to control everything. i know they look cool,
but that is it as far as i can see.
what do people do with these that cannot be done with a pronto? (and yes i
know a pronto cannot give you feedback but is that important?)
