RE: [OT] CD Printers was DVD Blanks

Don't get me wrong, its worth a look, and I cant compare to any other, but
=
I
find it frustrating...=20

If you're doing small runs of a limited number of images then you can
probably set it up once for each and it won't be too much trouble. If
you'r=
e
doing big runs or changing the image regularly it'll be very frustrating.

I use silver/silver CD's for audio, and the smudging is solved by sealing
with an extremely noxious sprayed sealant.

I'd recommend you get a demo on one, =A3475 is a lot to pay if you end up
upgrading to another version sometime later.

I'd look at a thermal printer when I upgrade - a lot more money and certain
restrictions, but (it appears) a lot less hassle...

That's a shame - I was thinking about this unit - To do short run CD and
DVD printing as I send out a few a week to customers. But it has to be
quick and simple to do.

Does the ink smudge 'feature' affect all ink-jet printed CD/DVD's ? or
do the white ink-jet printable type have some kind of 'ink fixing'
surface?

I have a Matisse Gold CD printer.

To be frank, I find the whole process really tedious - getting the right
ink
setting is fiddly, and alignment is a pain.=20

Also you have to print through Paint Shop Pro (I think), which means
importing jpegs from Photoshop, etc.

If you weren't relying on it for business, or too regularly and are
prepared
for the hassle, its worth doing, but if you print regularly or need a
fast
solution, look elsewhere.

Also, as its ink jet you really DO have to spray the surface to seal it,
or
the print comes off on your fingers...
