Providing you take into account the much higher current on the LV side and
select appropriate cable/connectors you should be fine. Having had one
transformer burn out and melt a 35A connector and the cable insulation
(both
supplied as part of the package) before the thermal overload blew I am a
bit
more cautious now!!

I bought a kit of 5 lights from B&Q at the weekend, but I don't think
the
wiring loom that comes with it is going to be long enough.

Am I safe chopping the cable where I need to & jointing in extensions
with
plugblock? I assume so as the kit comes with plug blocks to join the
transformer to the lights ...
