Stuart,

I have my LV transformers about 25 feet away from the furthest halogen. 
What I
did was run individual 240v 60w twin core black lamp cable from B&Q
from the
lights back to the transformers.  The lights are wired in a star
configuration
which gives each about 0.6% voltage drop.

I had found (perhaps coincidence) that wire wound transformers ran rather
warm
but when I replaced them with electronic ones, everything was cool !


If you have a look towards the bottom of this review, you can see some of
my
transformers and how they are connected to a terminal block.

The red and blue wires you can see on the left of the photo connect
together
every alternate 2 terminals to give me 2 x 3 way which is 2 x 3 x 20W
halogen
sets.
