Assuming you're a Windows user, then try Trillian.

Free download from www.trillian.cc

When you configure the IRC settings, you can pretty much accept all
the defaults except:

- Server name: irc.nixhelp.org
- Run these commands on login: "/join #ukha" (without the quotes)
- Your username :-)

These will all be found in the "IRC Connection Manager"
(right-mouse
button over the IRC logo, which, erm looks like a bit like a snail
shell to me - no idea what it's meant to be.)
