Your hi-fi speakers wouldn't sound so good if you took them out of the
cabinet. The ceiling speakers should sound much better once they're mounted
and effectively using the ceiling void as a cabinet.

I've got a pair of the water resistances one that I'm going to be putting
in the bathroom. However last night when I did a sound comparison with a
small set of hi-fi speaker the difference was very noticable. The ceiling
speaker sounded a bit tinny and radio quality and seemed to not pick up the
low frequencies well. Are the normal (i.e. not water resistant ones) any
better. Or is it possible that I'm getting a poor effect as I haven't got
them mounted yet?

I would definitely agree that they are a good speaker.

I've got the 5.5inch ones in my bathroom, and the 6.5inch ones in my sons
bedroom.

When the rest of the rooms are finished they will all have these.

To my ears they sound great (I'm a musician so know what I like to hear)
and
for under 20quid you can't find better.

If I had to find a negative though, it would be that they are not exactly
low profile, unlike the more expensive ones which sit pretty much flat on
the ceiling, these are about 10 - 15mm proud... But this is only a very
very
minor thing.

I'm very tempted to try them in a Dolby 6.1 type setup.... But it's a
little
difficult to cut the holes in the ceiling only to find they sound naf......
But hey I can always replaster afterwards (again).

Hi Steve,

After fitting a pair of these in my master bedroom I was amazed by the
quality of sound. So I went on and purchased another 12 pairs :-D

http://www.henrys.co.uk/PA/ceiling_speaker02.html

After finding them for 18ish ukp for a _pair_ I had my reservations but
they
really are nice. If you want any more info, drop me an email off list.

Regards,

Jules
