I haven't currently got any diodes in my component boxes - any idea of
Type Code or RS part no etc for both of these?

Paul.

Sometime IR receivers will not lock if it misses the start
of the IR signal. This appears to vary with manufacturer so
I'd retry the tests stopping and starting transmission between
each value that you try.

20K is way too big. My back-of-the-envelope calculation is that
the value should be about 100 ohms (about 350-70 depending on
drive current).

An alternative way to reduce the voltage is to add one or more
diodes in series. Either a single 3.5 volt "zener" or three
cheap ones.

Nick.
