Ipaq as IR remote

My brother has decided that his wife is getting a universal remote=20
for her birthday. Now, I'm perfectly happy with my RC5000, he's=20
considered a RC5200 but doesn't really want to spend =A3300+ on a=20
remote when he can get a pocket pc for the same amount.=20
I've got some concerns over the IR range but in principal can't=20
really see a problem with it (in theory).

Anyone with experience like to chip in with opinions/recommendations.

Yes, he is lurking on Remote Central every day.

I will force him to read any replies to this when I see him at work=20
tomorrow.
