Chipping in on the web developers side, in all my years of developing
websites I have only seen a couple of websites that benefitted from
using Flash. For odd animations, yes. For whole website, no. Flash is a
nightmare because you can't print, you can't bookmark and most
importantly, it is shite for accessibility. If you are going to maintain
two versions of the site, HTML and Flash, then that is twice as much
work. And your Flash site will not be indexed by Google, only your HTML
one.

Even an average website in HTML is better than 99% of Flash sites.
