I know that Polaron do a RS422 gateway. and their control bus is 485, so if
you're a smarty-pants you could interface directly to it. Futronix is
cheaper but doesn't do the single systemline/lighting plate. (beware with
the systemline/polaron thing, there might be a IR issue with passing Sky
codes).

Thankyou all for your replies. As I suspected, I now have even more
things to consider.

It is becoming clear to me that there never seems to be a right way to
do something with HA but rather numerous alternatives with their own
different merits and drawbacks.

Does anyone know how the Polaron prices compare to Clipsal and if there
are any external controllers Polaron works with.

I am trying to find what Electrical distis/wholesalers can supply the
C-bus kit, I seem to recall Clipsal Geoff saying there were 4 distis for
C-Bus, does anyone know who they are?

I have just stumbled across the Automated Home links page which is
pointing me to loads of invaluable information, should keep me quite for
a while.

Cheers

Andy
