Although I have POP3 accounts setup in Outlook, I don't use them (apart
from testing or if my main broadband connection goes down). I don't think
this is the cause of the problem. In fact I think I may have cured to
problem - removed and re-installed the ISA firewall client on the PC and it
seems to be behaving - for now!  ;)

I seem to remember some kind of issue with Outlook using dial up Pop3
and Exchange on the same client , something to do with it gettting
confused with the transport method ???
Just a thought.. try it without the POP3 connector bit and see if it
still operates the same.
