Hi,

You can put the new server in the same site.
As you know, the connectors are between sites, so you will have the same
functionality.
Make the new server a bridghead one and then you can remove the old one if
you want.

How many Exchange servers you have in the Exchange organization?
How many sites?

P.S. Everything is stored in AD, including the settings (connectors info).
