Yes, I have done this but only with ms pptp protocol. As far as I
understand it l2tp with ipsec won't work with nat. something to do with
change the packet addresses and the ipsec is no longer valid.



I have a netgear router, and I only have to forward tcp 1723 to the vpn
server. This is used to setup the vpn link and do the authentication.
Once setup, all traffic passes using ip protocol 50 (I think), but the
netgear seems to pass this with needing a specific rule.

Says it all really - I want a VPN Connection to home so I can securely
run
HA stuff without passing credentials in the clear.

Thing is , I'm not having much success. Never gets passed the
authentication piece.
