OT Help!
well it had to happen...
no matter how often you tell clients to back up the data they just
don't do it.
One of my clients has suffered what looks like a complete hard drive
failure on a seagate scsi disc. The client's server won't power up
with the disc attached and I have tried the disc in one of my workshop
machines and it doesn't power up either. I assume the drive is trying
to draw to much current and that the 'intelligent' atx power supply
says no than ks and just shuts down.
So the plea for help....
first does anyone have any ideas on how to get the disc working long
enough to back it up? Could I for example override the shutdown of
the power supply is some way, or maybe use an old AT power supply to
get it running long enough to back it up? I know this is unlikely to
be possible but the thought of rebuilding all their ancient
applications really doesn't appeal to me.
second anyone know of any good data recovery specialists? I am pretty
sure their back ups won't be up to date!
Sorry for the off topic post but any ideas would be appreciated.
cheers
Mick
