Perhaps that was a bad way of putting it..as there are cost issues too that
have left me using X10 instead.

I have a load of X10 devices that provide features beyond the
ON/OFF/Dimming functions - things like the RCS thermostats - the RoboDog
barking dog (yep sad I do have one) and the RF transceivers - plus within
HV
and another X10 module I use I have all the parallel I/O lines that link
via
X10. Comfort for me also has some X10 features programmed in that I haven't
transferred to C-Bus, although I could. Once I had it working well in
Comfort I was so pleased that I have left well alone. Also I use X10 to a
remote building here and would have to run a C-Bus cable otherwise. Lastly
I
rent an adjoining property and their light switches are all X10 - it allows
me to simulate occupation whilst they are out (and their alarm is set) or
during periods when the property is vacant. This remote switching of
devices
when cabling is limited to just three core mains is an invaluable advantage
of X10. - oh & some of my garden lighting works this way too.

.Now some of these things can be done via C-Bus eg the parallel I/O and the
analogue I/O which I haven't mentioned but I haven't bought the appropriate
modules. So really it's a cost, cabling and availability issue - the
multifunction I/O device for C-Bus is only recently available. The other
issue is that some of my X10 devices eg the external PIR's have worked
faultlessly and would be awkward to replace (just can be bothered really)
so
I have kept them.

I don't expect Clipsal to launch a RoboDog and their thermostat is not yet
available although a temp sensor is. Comfort's implementation of C-Bus does
not include the ability to read the light or temperature sensors though
whereas the xAP gateway does.

Can you give us some examples of this Kevin?

Thanks
