HomeSeer plug-in authors...

I've just posted this same Q on the HomeSeer BBS but I know there are a few
HomeSeer porgrammers here too who may not visit the BSS that often....

I'm currently writing an SNMP Poller plug-in- where the aim is to have any
number of devices configured as SNMP OIDs to be Polled. So each device has
the IP address, SNMP Community and SNMP OID details required stored within
the plug-in. All devices get polled at the same centrally defined interval.

I currently have it working (roughly) with the devices all configured
through the Plug-In config screen (accessed via the interfaces dialog)
which
is clunky.

I see from the SDK pdf however there is a device type
"IOTYPE_CONTROL" which
allows a custom config screen for a device.

So (finally) my question...

In order to setup the correct device type is it necesary for the plug-in to
create the device - or can I somehow add a custom device type to the list
within "Device Properties" which creates a device with the
required
IOTYPE_CONTRL all set-up.

Assuming the latter is possible - are there any code examples of how the
plug-in/homeseer interaction should happen to keep custom config info up to
date etc. if house or device codes change ?

Any better ways for a plug-in to keep track of a variable number of its
devices each with custom config ....

Thanks
Dean
