Dave,

I've got a Panasonic TU-DSB30 - this was the choice of expats because of
it's ability to pull in weak signals. I do know someone with a new-ish
Grundig and minidish waiting to be installed so that would be perfect for
swapping out components to test. Unfortunately he's not in the office until
next week.

Which model Amstrad ? My parents have a DRX100 and they were reporting
substantially better signal strength & quality last night (basically no
problems). They're in Essex, I'm in Hampshire on the Surrey / Hants border.
How about you ?

Fortunately I can relocate the digibox & TV to a spare bedroom and see
it from the dish. I'll make up a new, shorter downlead also so I'll see how
the testing goes tonight.

Thanks,

Tim H.

Hi Tim,

I have the same problem with my Amstrad digibox. I have changed the LNB and
the cable with no change. I borrowed a digibox and that worked perfectly on
my setup so I suspect the Amstrad box itself. Which model do you have as
some have power supply issues and a suitable kit from CPC may cure the
problem. This is my next step.

A short while ago someone, who *had* faultless Sky reception, was reporting
poor picture quality.

Did you get to the bottom of the problem, and what was the solution ? Was
it all the channels that were poor, or only a few ?

In the last two days BBC1 & 2 have become essentially unwatchable -
ITV1, Channel 4 & 5 are all ok, but other BBC channels are suffering
too. Signal strength is about 60%, Quality is about 40% - these are much
lower than when it was installed. There's no new buildings in the way, I
guess the trees have filled out a bit but everything was fine last year :-(

All internal connections have been checked - planning to look at the
external ones tonight and see if the dish has moved.

SWMBO returns tomorrow and I need to sort something out :-\

Cheers,

Tim H.
