Sorry, I was sleeping :-)

simonm@the-plough:simonm $ cat .mp3burnrc
# options for cdrecord
$cdrecord_opts="speed=2 dev=0,0,0"
simonm@the-plough:simonm $

I've set my record speed fairly low as I pull the mp3's across a network
and burn on the fly on a fairly slow machine.

Running cdrecord should return something like this:

simonm@scooby:simonm $ cdrecord -scanbus
Cdrecord 1.10 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2001 Jörg Schilling
Linux sg driver version: 3.1.22
Using libscg version 'schily-0.5'

You'll need to be root or have cdrecord setuid.

Also, you'll need to tell the kernel not to load the IDE drivers for the
CD-Writer (hdc in my case) with a kernel argument, which is usually fed in
via LILO or whatever boot loader you are using:

append="idebus=66 hdc=ide-scsi"

HTH,

Simon.
