Neil

The AT&T voices are a whole lot better that the MS ones, though (IMHO)
unfortunately the US voices are still much better than Charles and Audrey,
the 'English' ones.

You can run your own samples from the AT&T website here:

I currently can't get SWMBO approval for the speech output from my
automation (Autom8it) because "it sounds like a demented robot"
....
this is using Microsoft 'Mary' ..... I thought I remebered seeing an
option to change pitch & tone but I can't find it.

I am also thinking about some of the more 'advanced' voices from AT&T
and the like - any experiences? ... are they plug & play just
substituting for 'Mary'?

Finally, I suppose my ideal would probably be Marvin from Hitch
Hikers Guide, anyone know where I could find him?

Thanks, Neil.
