Hi,

My electrician neighbour happened to tell me last night that most alarm
installers are moving over to screened 6-core to reduce interference
problems. Certainly that's what was used by the people that installed my
alarm. I don't think it's required for any BS, just precautionary.

I thought it was hard to find too (Rapid have discontinued 6-core, but have
screened 8-core), but he tells me that (because of all the alarm
installers) it's a stock item at the local wholesalers. And we're talking
sleepy Cirencester here. YMMV.

I think it is usually 8 or 6 core unscreened for standard alarms (you can
get 2 and 4 core as well)  AFAIK the screened is required by Comfort
Keypads/Video. IME it is pretty hard to get hold of and definitely isn't a
stock item.
