Yes and Yes.

I don't do this but use evox dashboard configured to load various apps
including xbmp.

Oh, and I've also just installed a Playstation 1 emulator to play older
PSX games - how cool is that :-)

I built mine from a Slayer install disk which installed some basic
packages and I went from there.  Suggest you search the list for slayer.
