I (think) I have done a few times (this is the US PC World right, not the
nasty Dixons version?)

It does download a small client (of their own making), then it runs a
variety of tests to check how your PC rates against others that have been
through the same check.  It's good fun, if only to show how slow and
archaic
someone else's office PC is!  TBH, if you know much about PCs then the
tests
will just tell you what you already know.

There are no privacy/spam issues that I'm aware of, if that's what you're
worried about.
