Cat 5e is fine for the keypads. Somebody less sleepy than me will
correct this, but I think you use cat5 to eliminate crosstalk between
the 12v/data/voice. Lots of people complain of interference when they
use standard alarm cable.
Additionally, use the spare pair in the cat5 to double up the 12v
supply.
