Introduction to myself

Hi All,
As requested by the moderator, here's my personal little introduction to
th=
e=20
news group.

My interests in Home Automation originally steams from my career as an=20
industrial Automation systems integrator for Honeywell Control systems
base=
d in=20
Manchester UK.

The First HA system that I was first interested in was the AMX (now Panja)=
=20
kit. However after attending one of their courses and reviewing their
Hardw=
are=20
and pricelists, I decided that the kit didn't offer value for money i.e. a=
=20
touch screen, which costs a massive =A33000, although it is aesthetically

leasing.=20
Since then my focus has been on power-line comms (such as X-10), IR and=20
wireless systems as apposed to hardware wired, difficult to install
systems=
.

To date, I've installed various x-10 controlled modules, IR lighting,
wired=
=20
TV and CCTV (currently 2) distribution system (using a loft box). I'm
curre=
ntly=20
debating to install a living room entertainment system in the form of an=20
mini-itx barebones computer that will act as an PVR (using a hardrive),
DVD=
=20
recorder (if the psu can stomach it) and an internet terminal which will
re=
ceive its=20
comms via a 802.11x ADSL router (as soon as BT get there shit together and=
=20
upgrade my local exchange). I'm currently search for cost effective,
stylis=
h=20
mini-itx cases such as tranquil (http://www.tranquilpc.co.uk/)

I've also have plans to install an cost effective bedroom in ceiling
speake=
r=20
system which will stream mp3 (possibly over powerline Ethernet or 802.11x)=
=20
>from
ing=20
speakers. I would be interested in any ideas about this.

Look forward to further discussions.

Karl
