Stuart,
Could you print a copy every time the occupancy changes i.e. someone enters
or leaves the building, then you only have to *pick up* the register, not
hang around to print it ? Could also be sent to a dedicated printer etc. so
it doesn't get caught up in the dross of everybody else's prints.
Failing that, an "in/out" board - how many people are involved ?

system to take a register of who's in the building that can be quickly
accessed in case of a fire (printing is not "quickly accessed")
