Hello! New to the list.

Hello all,

As per the joining instructions here's a little intro:

I've always been a gadget and AV freak (despite being female!). Home
Automation was a little surplus to requirement when I lived in my tiny
studio flat (no need for remote controls even as *every* switch was
within arm's reach!), but now I have a whole house, and the
possibilites are limited only by a cash flow crisis!

ATM the house is surface cabled (damn those solid Victorian walls!)
for a computer network and also some extra cat5 for Keith Doxey's most
excellent kat5 modules (can't wait for the matrix switcher Keith!)
The lights go on and off with X10 devices. Which is the extent of the
automation. So far...

Owing to the cash flow crisis I have a lodger and no Node Zero, but I
hope this will change over the next few years. This also means that
most of my experimentation is done as cheaply as possible and
consequently my house usually resembles Heath Robinson's shed.

I work as a computer technician, mostly with Macintoshes but also
various *nix boxes and the odd Windows machine.

That's about all!
Alcina
