surely if you can use them to input passwords could you not get a programme
that unlocks doors when the correct "password" is entered?

There is an SDK for them, I've got no details, but I know we bought it for
the office when we were looking into biometric security.

They can be used to log onto windows and to input passwords for other
programmes or websites, but ISTR someone mentioning that they aren't
suitable for using for door access control etc.
