What alarm are you using Gerard? A system that alerts the police must have
some kind of subscription monitoring service?
No good though if there aren't any police in the area (like last night for
me) :-(

The alarm system we have seems to work quite well. All the rooms have
sensors in them and they are zoned. If the alarm is triggered, a phone call
is placed to the house. If no-one answers the police are sent straight
away.
If someone answers and doesn't give the correct key word, the police are
also sent.
Works for us. And no X10 involved :-)
