Hi Paul

Sounds like a job for a RotoZip and a template made up from wood. Get
the SWMBO to hold it in place while you follow the template, one you've
made a start you can then chip out the centre and work your way
downwards. If you cause any cracks or chips you can buy something
called
Tetrion Stone Filler which will fill and bond stone. If you know what
your doing (Mail me off list.) you can colour match the stuff too.

If your REALLY handy you could make a stone looking holder or back
plate
for the door phone using the same product. You will have to make a
latex
mould though.

(P.S> One of our divisions in the company specialises in
reconstituted
and natural stone restoration :-))

I'm just a lowly pen pushing Director but I have 'men (and women!) that
