RE: OT : AVIA Test DVD

No, it doesn't appear to be the same.

Is "The Ultimate DVD - Platinum' any good?

I have this one: http://www.dvd.co.uk/product.asp?id=DVDUPX72012, which can
be found here as well:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1575238470/qid=1043069449/sr=1-2/re

Is that the same?

At the moment it is the only DVD available. It is good for both audio
and video calibration. The only competition was "Video Essentials" but
that has been taken off the market while they produce a
  digital/progressive scan version

It (the Avia disk) has all the tones and patterns that you'll need to
set up any decent home cinema.
