There is an accesskey attribute, introduced in HTML 4.0 which is intended
to
provide keyboard shorts to links. E.g.

<a href=""whatsnew.html"" accesskey"2">What's
New</a>

You can then use this shortcut in IE4+ & Netscape 6 by holding down the
Alt
Key and then pressing the corresponding key, in this case '2'.

The use of accesskeys is a UK Government standard the aim being to
allow
disabled users better access to websites.  More info here:-
