Stuart,

Yep you are right the first thing is a device that lets air out and
water into the central heating.

The other item looks like a very old socket for BT phones, back in the
days when they were GPO.

The cable out the bottom is a normal BT plug so I would say that the old
owner may have had a very old phone which they wanted to keep.

If you don't need it then you could bin it. However if you know someone
who work for the GPO then they may be able to make use of it.

I got the keys to my new house the other day, and there's a couple of
objects in there that I can't identify, the first one I've found out via
Google that it's an aereator thing for the central heating for removing
air from the system ... nice.

The beige box thing though has no markings on it, can anyone see what it
is?
