RE: Bar Code scanner - [PLUG] alert

There is also a ukha_barcode mailing list, which was started a while back
when some group members started talking about barcodes, shopping lists, book
scanning and DVD scanning.

Aside from the hardware choices one of the main sticking points with the
shopping list idea was that no one was able to get hold of a database of UPC
codes and certainly the supermarkets seemed unwilling to provide. A few
people tried to start creating one, but I don't think it came to anything.

If there is any progress on this front, I would be interested in dusting off
my cuecat and scanteam and getting going again.

Simon

You could wire the scanners trigger into a microswitch mounted against the
pedal of your bin, such that when you open the bin the scanner is active....
