The ones we've been buying at work recently ... one of the basic end of Symbol models, circa =A3100 a throw, come with a stand which has a magnet <= BR> in it... when the head of the scanner detects the magnet, the beam is
on, otherwise it operates on the trigger.

>from programming which allows trigger only or constant read modes....
obviously in a constant read 24/7 you're going to burn out the laser a
lot faster..... so if you find a cheap one, you may want to buy a couple at the time, because when the first one dies, and you can't find one
that does the same & fits in the same space, scans the same way etc, etc, you'll be annoyed... :D

The ones we use are PS2 or USB based...... USB would do that with a
couple of repeater cables, PS2 not sure about max length.
