Thanks Tony and Clive for the replies.
Tony - have you done this yourself? Will Cat5 handle the full 5.1
bandwidth (well, I guess it handles Gigabit networking so it should -
but I thought I'd ask!). Would you / do you put it down any particular
pairs on the Cat5 (i.e. one of the tighter twisted pairs)?

Get an optical to coax converter and stick it on the sky+ output.
Then feed via CAT5 to the amp - or thru a coax to optical converter if
your amp
doesn't have a coax input.
Craplins do these converters for about 20/30 quid each.
