Thanks for the replies guys.

He has a spare NIC so I will offer him the cheaper but less convienient
option of using ICS on his main PC and let him know what it would cost to do
it properly with a router.

Nothing.
You caon only have one PC connected at a time with an NTL (or BY)
connection, even though you have registered several.
You need a broadband router, or just bung a second network card in one
PC and have Cablemodem ---> nic1 on the PC and NIC2 on the PC --->
Switch/hub/rest of your network.
